ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:
Face to Face Health and Counseling is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing economic and health equity for youth ages 11–24. We do this work through a comprehensive approach that includes housing, mental health, medical, youth justice, education and employment, and community services. We take a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to our work and center the needs of young people impacted by racism and other forms of oppression and marginalization. Founded in 1972, Face to Face serves more than 4,000 youth annually. 


JOB SUMMARY:   
Face to Face Health and Counseling is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of youth ages 11–24. We offer health care, counseling, and programs for homeless youth. The Resource Navigator is responsible for ensuring that youth’s basic needs are met by procuring, organizing, and maintaining adequate supplies of food, personal hygiene products, and other essential items. The Resource Navigator monitors inventory and ensures these resources are readily available to youth accessing SafeZone. 

This position is 37.5 hours a week. 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Drop-In Services  

  • Engage with youth at the day shelter in a meaningful and respectful manner assisting them with various resources offered.  
  • Maintain organization and operation of the Resource Room, Food Shelf, and Day Shelter 
  • Stock and maintain inventory logs of Resource Room 
  • Procure, pick-up, and transport and stock goods from outside sources such as Loaves and Fishes, Costco, and Restaurant Depot.  
  • Partner with the development team to coordinate donations  
  • Support volunteers/interns and/or group volunteer projects. 
  • Ensure the day shelter space is clean and organized.Support the kitchen with meals and stocking and organizing food/supplies. 
  • Maintain the daily flow of the drop-in center by helping at the front desk, in the clothing closet, computer lab, kitchen, or other areas as needed 
  • Provide excellent customer service while greeting and checking youth into SafeZone 
  • Respond to crisis situations in the space and de-escalate in a calm and professional manner 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Supportive Services 

  • Provide access to supportive services and resources  
  • Establish healthy and appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with youth 
  • Support healthy adolescent development of youth 
  • Document youth services in database 
  • Complete appropriate paperwork in a timely manner 
  • Develop and maintain relationships agency-wide and community-wide with youth serving programs and agencies 
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement team for procurement of donations  
  • Collaborate with other staff, maintain teamwork and professional working relationships with clients or other outside agencies or contacts 
  • Provides all services guided by the evidence-based principles for helping youth overcome homelessness.  


QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with youth experiencing homelessness or facing other barriers (preferred) 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Experience with a positive youth development and harm reduction approach 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • High reliability and integrity 
  • High degree of problem-solving skill 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to do what it takes to meet youth needs 
  • Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and involving others when necessary 
  • Good crisis management skills and the ability to navigate stressful situations well 
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance required 
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds.

LOCATION: Essential Onsite – This role requires the employee to be onsite. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Ability to perform the duties outlined in the job description 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.  
  • Ability to frequently lift food and donations in/out of shopping carts and/out of vehicles  
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance required; ability to travel in all MN weather conditions

PAY & BENEFITS:
The pay rate for this position is between $23 and $24, based on qualifications. 

Face to Face offers benefits which include health, dental, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, 403b account (3% employer match) as well as 23 days of PTO and 11 paid holidays.
